Home Safety Checklist

Walk through the home room by room, ideally together with the person who lives there, and tick what is already in place. What’s left unticked is a list of things to talk about.

A starting point, not a professional assessment. Ticking every box does not mean a home is free of risk. If someone has fallen or is worried about falling, ask their doctor whether an occupational therapist or physiotherapist could look at the home and at their particular needs.

Ticks are not saved or sent anywhere. Items are adapted from the US National Institute on Aging’s room-by-room guidance (opens in a new tab), with notes for Indian homes. See our disclaimer.
